  • Made from red wine, Blossa 2025 Alperna is inspired by traditional glühwein, flavoured with lemon, bitter orange, spruce sprouts and our unique glögg spices. The forest flavour of the glögg is also enhanced with a touch of juniper berries.
  • The bright green spruce shoots are Blossa’s tribute to the scenic and fresh alpine environments, which in this glühwein interpretation are combined with Blossa’s traditional glögg spices.
  • As usual, the spices have been allowed to macerate and store for at least five months, before being mixed with the other ingredients.

Story:

This year’s Blossa annual glögg transports us to rolling snow-covered valleys and pine-covered mountain peaks, finally landing in the Alps. Ever since the start of Blossa’s over 20-year-old tradition of vintage glögg, a red variant has been in high demand among mulled wine enthusiasts, and this year is the time for the first time.

The reason why their previous vintage glöggs were based on white wine has its explanation: that they only use natural ingredients. When they flavour glögg, with raspberries for example, only real berries are used in the extraction. No shortcuts are taken. This makes it significantly more challenging to get the flavours to emerge in a glögg based on red wine, where the strong character of the wine can easily take over.

Serving suggestion:

Blossa 25 glög can be enjoyed warm or cold.

“Up until the first Sunday of Advent, I personally prefer to enjoy it cold in a glass with ice. Later, I recommend enjoying it warm in a mug like a classic glühwein,” says Blossa’s chief blender Åsa Orsvärn.

Serve delicious alpine cheeses, such as Appenzeller cheeses, with the vintage glög. Tip: cut the cheese into ‘mountain peaks’ of different sizes and thicknesses for a cheese platter.
