The members of the German-Finnish Society and Finland friends from Lower Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt planned a star hike on the Brocken. Meeting point the Helsinki sign on top of the Brocken Hill at 12:30.
The hikers from Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt started at the Torfhaus and the Thuringians in Schierke. We enjoyed the cool forest with the narrow stream, where the dog of two participants could refresh many times. We ourselves refreshed on the border between Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, the green belt. In a small hunting house, we learned that a green belt also runs between Finland and Russia.
After refreshing the steepest climb waited for us. After mastering the climb, there was a great view towards the Torfhaus waiting for us.
The Goetheweg led us parallel to the railway of the Harzbahn further up to the summit. The last steep climb on paved road led us to the Brockenweg, leading from Schierke to the Brocken, up to the meeting point. There, the three Thuringian hikers were already waiting for us. From Brocken to Helsinki it is only 1299 km. Where is the nearest plane to Finland?
After the strenuous hike to the meeting point of Brocken refreshing was necessary. Mari Raatikainen from Little Finland had given us some products to try out. Many many thanks!
We enjoyed ourselves with forest berry juice, elk salami, reindeer chips, dried berries and energy bars. Everyone was excited and asked where to buy such great things. Even the Finns among the hikers did not know the products and took photos to look back home in the local shops.
After a joint lunch with pea soup with Bockwurst, we said goodbye to the friends of Finland from Thuringia and hiked back to our cars parked at the Torfhaus.
